CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – In response to ongoing harsh weather and icy conditions disrupting garbage collection, the Public Service Commission of West Virginia (PSC) is urging waste haulers to provide alternative options for customers.
The PSC is asking haulers to station garbage trucks with drivers at designated locations near missed pickup routes, particularly in difficult-to-reach or hilly areas.
This would allow customers who can safely travel to the location to dispose of their trash.
Customers must provide proof of being in good standing with their waste service provider.
Haulers are expected to notify customers about these alternative disposal sites via phone calls, texts, emails, or social media.
The PSC is asking companies to implement this service by the end of the week.
The decision comes after customer complaints about missed trash collection for over a week, with concerns that road conditions may remain hazardous in the coming days.
