CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — The West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office reported 1,222 new business registrations statewide in November, marking continued growth in entrepreneurship across the state, according to Secretary of State Mac Warner.
Wirt County led the state in percentage growth with four new businesses, representing a 1.79% increase. Wyoming, Clay, Doddridge, and Pleasants counties also posted significant growth during the month.
Top Five Counties for Percentage Business Growth in November:
- Wirt County: 1.79%
- Wyoming County: 1.44%
- Clay County: 1.43%
- Doddridge County: 1.40%
- Pleasants County: 1.27%
Counties leading in the total number of new business registrations included Kanawha, Berkeley, Monongalia, Raleigh, and Harrison counties.
Top Five Counties for Total Business Registrations in November:
- Kanawha County: 90 new registrations
- Berkeley County: 83 new registrations
- Monongalia County: 80 new registrations
- Raleigh County: 52 new registrations
- Harrison County: 45 new registrations
Over the past year, from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024, West Virginia registered 13,496 new businesses. Wayne County led all 55 counties with a remarkable 17.72% growth rate during this period.
