CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office registered 1,100 new businesses statewide in October 2024, according to Secretary of State Mac Warner.
Calhoun County topped the list for the highest percentage growth in new businesses, registering a 2.70% increase with seven new companies. Other counties showing strong growth include Wayne (1.90%), Pocahontas (1.87%), Clay (1.82%), and Jackson (1.80%).
In terms of sheer volume, Kanawha County led with 129 new business registrations, followed by Berkeley (93), Monongalia (87), Raleigh (73), and Jefferson (72) counties.
Across the last 12 months, from November 1, 2023, to October 31, 2024, a total of 13,563 new businesses were registered statewide. Wayne County saw the highest year-over-year growth rate, expanding by 18.24%.
