DELBARTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) โ A teacher at Mingo Central High School has been charged with multiple felony offenses following an investigation into alleged inappropriate conduct with a student.
According to court documents filed in Mingo County, authorities have charged 35-year-old Kevin Scott Baisden of Delbarton with one count of Soliciting a Minor via Computer and two counts of Sexual Contact against a Student by a School Employee.
The charges stem from incidents that allegedly took place between November 1 and December 2, 2024.
The investigation began when a mandated report was filed by the assistant principal of Mingo Central High School, who alerted law enforcement to inappropriate text communications between Baisden and a student.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim is a 16-year-old female student at the school.
The criminal complaint details several incidents that occurred during the month of November. The victim reported that Baisden used a guitar to strike her on the buttocks during one encounter.
She also stated that he would pull her hair, grab her wrists and hands during what he referred to as โplay fighting.โ
The investigation also revealed a substantial number of text messages exchanged between Baisden and the student.
The messages, described by police as romantic and emotionally charged, included statements such as โIโm your man, youโre my girl,โ โAll things are possible,โ and โLove at first sight.โ
One message reportedly asked the student to visit him during a basketball scrimmage over Thanksgiving break and included discussion about her virginity.
