WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – Drivers using the West Virginia Turnpike will now pay more at toll booths, as a 5% increase takes effect starting today, January 1, 2025.
The cash toll for passenger vehicles has been raised from $4.25 to $4.50.
West Virginia Parkways Authority Executive Director Jeff Miller first announced the change last fall.
Officials noted that the adjustment, which rounds the toll to the nearest quarter, is intended to make cash payments more straightforward for drivers.
The toll hike is part of a planned schedule to help repay bonds issued through the state’s Roads to Prosperity Program.
Under program guidelines, toll increases of up to 5% are permitted but must occur no less than every five years.
This marks the third increase tied to the program, with the last adjustment taking place on January 1, 2019.
