ATHENS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a female victim with life-threatening injuries.
According to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, Summer Thornton was taken into custody on February 4, 2025, by Detective M.T. Hatfield.
The arrest stems from a February 1st shooting in the Athens area that sent the victim to Charleston Area Medical Center.
Thornton has been charged with attempted murder, malicious assault, and two counts of wanton endangerment.
She is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
