WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) โ Sidney Paul Allen, 28, of Pineville, WV, was sentenced to prison for one to five years for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. He pleaded guilty to the charge on January 22, 2025.
On March 25, 2024, Trooper E.B. Harper Jr. of the West Virginia State Police received information from an anonymous source that Sidney Paul Allen, a registered sex offender, might be violating his registration requirements. Trooper Harper initiated an investigation and found that Allen had indicated in August 2023 that he was moving to Virginia and had listed his Virginia address with the State Police, as required by the Sex Offender Act. However, Trooper Harper further determined that Allen was still living at a West Virginia address as of March 2024, in violation of the law.
Gregory Bishop is the Wyoming County Prosecutor. โWe are pleased with the prison sentence imposed by Judge Miller in this case,โ said Bishop. โSex offenders are on notice that if they do not comply with the sex offender requirements, the State Police will find them, and we will convict them and seek prison sentences.โ
Derek Laxton, Wyoming County Assistant Prosecutor, served as the lead prosecutor in the case before the Honorable Wyoming County Circuit Judge, Josh Miller.
Trooper E.B. Harper, Jr. of the West Virginia State Police investigated the crime.
Bishop wished to thank Derek Laxton and the entire prosecutorial staff, along with Trooper E.B. Harper, Jr. and the West Virginia State Police, for their hard and thorough work.
